Mary SanGiovanni: Alien : Enemy of My Enemy (2023, Titan Books Limited) 4 stars

A Thrilling Alien Adventure

4 stars

This was a face paced horror filled ride through a collapsing back water moon, a Wayland Yutani miscalculation, and some Colonial Marines to help you get out of the whole mess. It was a fun read, and SanGiovanni's entrenches you into this Alien story.

This also has made me want to go see Alien Covenant, so good job!

If Alien is your thing, this read is worth it!

Justin Lutz: Gemini Rising (Paperback, Castaigne Publishing) 5 stars

The Lights Shine

5 stars

A report gets a VHS tape sent to his house, and it sets chasing a story that is both unbelievable and yet compelling.

Reading like a noir episode of the Twilight zone, this novella captures you in its spiral and doesn’t let go. Lutz’s voice fills the prose deliciously making this a smooth suspenseful read.

Brian Koscienski, Chris Pisano: Satan's Petting Zoo (2020, Sunbury Press, Inc.) 4 stars

WERE-FERRET

4 stars

A fun fantastic read. A group of friends get in over their heads with with jocks, outcasts and lycanthropes. Each finds their inner animal and one of the results is a were-ferret. (which is on the cover, so I don't think that counts as a spoiler) They have to come to terms with not only their new abilities but who they are inside. Predator or prey, survival is no longer just a game.

Really enjoyed this one, looking forward to more from these authors!

The Woods and the Wolves Return

5 stars

The Wild Fall is a fantastic sequel to The Wild Dark.

As this is not yet released, I'll keep from spoilers and stick with the info on the back copy. It's been ten years since The Wild Dark, and the survivors are banding together to try to make it. A promise, a plan, a failure and a new revelation about the Woods await Liz and company.

Because the Woods and the wolves are not the only monsters in the dark.

Once I started reading this one, I didn't want to stop. A great read that kept me hooked until the end.

The Wild Fall is up for pre-order now, and out for sale 3 August 2023 (which gives you time to read The Wild Dark before it does)
