History and Poetry

An amazing collection of translated poetry by the oldest named author we know of. Add on some fantastic essays about both the translations themselves, and the history and culture of the times, and this was a great read for lovers of poetry, history.

Mary SanGiovanni: Alien : Enemy of My Enemy (2023, Titan Books Limited)

A Thrilling Alien Adventure

This was a face paced horror filled ride through a collapsing back water moon, a Wayland Yutani miscalculation, and some Colonial Marines to help you get out of the whole mess. It was a fun read, and SanGiovanni's entrenches you into this Alien story.

This also has made me want to go see Alien Covenant, so good job!

If Alien is your thing, this read is worth it!

Justin Lutz: Gemini Rising (Paperback, Castaigne Publishing)

Crash Winslow is a journalist who finds …

The Lights Shine

A report gets a VHS tape sent to his house, and it sets chasing a story that is both unbelievable and yet compelling.

Reading like a noir episode of the Twilight zone, this novella captures you in its spiral and doesn’t let go. Lutz’s voice fills the prose deliciously making this a smooth suspenseful read.

Brian Koscienski, Chris Pisano: Satan's Petting Zoo (2020, Sunbury Press, Inc.)

WERE-FERRET

A fun fantastic read. A group of friends get in over their heads with with jocks, outcasts and lycanthropes. Each finds their inner animal and one of the results is a were-ferret. (which is on the cover, so I don't think that counts as a spoiler) They have to come to terms with not only their new abilities but who they are inside. Predator or prey, survival is no longer just a game.

Really enjoyed this one, looking forward to more from these authors!
